First Aid/CPR/AED: This is an entry level type course for community members or ‘lay responders’ who will learn how to respond to every day emergencies.

What is Blended Learning?
All BLS and First Aid/CPR/AED classes are offered in a Blended Learning format. After registration, students will be sent a link to the Red Cross Learning Center (immediately upon registration) where you will complete guided coursework before the skills session. Bring the certificate (or screenshot/email) to the class. When you come to your class, we will review the material you completed online and then test your skills. The online coursework MUST be completed before class! If you don’t complete the coursework prior to the start of class - you can Reschedule for another time.
How long are the classes?
The following times are only estimated averages. Online learning time varies by student because you move at your own pace.
Basic Life Support (BLS):
1-3 hours online and about 2 hours in person
Adult & Pediatric CPR/AED/FA:
1-3 hours online and about 2 hours in person
Instructor Training:
2 hours online and 7 hours in person
How do I access the online pre-work for my class?
Once you purchase a class seat, Ohio CPR Certs will send you an enrollment email immediately with the course access link. You will then enter your name and email address to get your coursework setup. You will then create an account on the Red Cross Learning Center, or login if you have previously taken a class. If you need assistance, you can call the Red Cross Training Support Center at (888) 225-5914 (8:30a-9p M-F, 8:30a-5p Sat).
What agency is my certification through?
We are an American Red Cross Licensed Training Provider and an American Heart Association (AHA) trainer. The classes on our online calendar are official Red Cross courses! We offer Group Training at your workplace through the American Heart Association as requested too. The Red Cross curriculum is the most up-to-date material, is consistent with AHA Guidelines for CPR, and is OHSA compliant.
How long is the certification good?
We issue SAME DAY certification cards! All BLS and First Aid/CPR/AED Certifications are for 2 years. Bloodborne Pathogens certifications are valid for 1 year. Course certifications are issued digitally. After the completion of your in-person course, the digital certification card will be emailed to the address you used to complete your registration online. You can print/download/email your certification as needed. A special QR code is attached to every certification card that will validate its authenticity! You can visit http://redcross.org/digitalcertificate and find your certificates too.

What should I bring to class?
If you take a Blended Learning class, be sure to screenshot or have handy the online course completion certificate.
Be sure to bring a pen/pencil and notebook if you like to take notes.
Handbooks are no longer necessary to take a class. You do not need to purchase any in order to take the course. Free digital handbooks will be sent to you for the class.
Breathing barriers and other training supplies will be provided to all participants.
Do I have to get on the floor to perform CPR?
Please let us know if you have any type of disability or need any sort of accommodation - we are happy to work with you. Please note - in order to be issued a certification card, all lay responder students are REQUIRED to conduct CPR (breaths and compressions) on the ground during class. BLS students must perform all skills and scenarios, including CPR on the ground.
The American Red Cross does not allow exceptions to be made. Certifications can’t be issued if you are unable to perform CPR on the floor.
What if I need to reschedule or cancel my class?
We understand that life happens. However, our classes typically fill to capacity meaning that you may have taken a seat from another student who needs certified. We would appreciate as much notice as possible if you need to miss a class or fail to complete the online work on time.
Please visit our Reschedule, Cancellation & Tardy Policy page for more information on these situations.
When do I get my card? What if I lose my certification card?
All American Red Cross certification cards are issued digitally and on the same day as your class. Once your instructors marks you complete in the online system - your digital cert card is emailed directly to you. You can download, email, or print your certificate on the spot.
Don’t worry if you lose your card! You can visit http://redcross.org/digitalcertificate and find your certificates. There is no fee to download a copy of your replacement card!
Do you offer Group Training?
We do! We offer both Red Cross and American Heart Association (AHA) group/workplace trainings! Do you want to offer training to a group of employees at your workplace? Maybe a group of volunteers that serve at your non-profit agency? We can setup a dedicated class (with discount pricing) where we come to you and deliver the same quality training program to your staff. This is a great option if you have 6 or more staff members you want to train. Reach out to us to learn more about group training and special group discounts!
Is there a minimum number of students in a class?
Ohio CPR Certs reserves the right to cancel any class for low enrollment. We will do our best to reschedule you into another class as soon as possible. If we cancel a class due to low enrollment or for any other reason, a full refund will be provided, if you don’t want to reschedule. Generally, BLS classes need a minimum 2-3 students and other community member classes need 2 students to conduct the course. Instructor courses require 3 students at a minimum.
